Fal River Festival

Join the Story Republicans for an evening of stories and poetry that celebrates the life and works of Charles Causley and other much-loved Cornish writers including Pauline Sheppard and Mac Dunlop.

Showcasing a new body of work, inspired by Causley 100, the centenary celebrations of Charles Causley’s birth, we will be delighting audiences with readings from the Charles Causley collection but also new writing and poetry, inspired by his life and works.

With their own unique and playful presentations, these top of the bill troubadours will be performing in the Tresanton Chapel. They are proving a big hit at Cornish literary events this year and are delighted to be part of the Fal River Festival once more.

His most recent publication Solarium published by The Poetry Point Press was inspired by Mac’s time as writer in residence at Trelissick House. During the autumn of 2016 and as part of The Story Republic’s “A Place to Write” project, Mac spent a day a week inside the house, writing, reading and talking to visitors. The aim of the overall project was to encourage visitors to find inspiration and their own creativity in the house, gardens and history of the place.

As a cartoonist, he recently won a Pluto Press award, and his latest one man show “Small Worlds” is an interweaving of satirical allegories and intimate thoughts about the little futures in which we aspire to be.
