Date: 21st April 2018, Time: 10:30 am - 4:00 pm, Location: The Writers’ Block

A festival of ideas, where they come from and how they are developed, inspired by director, designer, theatre maker, visionary and artistic director of Wildworks, Bill Mitchell.

Saturday 21 April, 10.30 – 4pm, Pop-in as you desire

Cornish Publishers Day

Open to the public

Venue: The Writers’ Block

Celebrating the book as a vehicle for harnessing and sharing ideas and stories.

Exhibition of Bill Mitchell’s Boxes, creative processes and collage books. In his house Bill had collected, built and created an attic rammed with objects and ideas – none of it fixed, all bursting with potential and possible stories. These were his thinking tools and the place where he forged his vision of the epic in the microcosm of a small box or notebook. Displayed is a tiny sample which shines a light on his extraordinary imagination and way of working.

Showcasing Cornish publishers such as Scryfa, Atlantic Press, Guillemot Press, Ravenstongue, Juniper Bespoke and Esther Connon.

Also on display will be the notebooks of the great Cornish playwright Nick Darke which are currently housed in Falmouth University archive. This is a timely and rare opportunity to see into Darke’s creative mind, celebrating the 70th year of his birth.

With the support of Feast, we are collaborating with The Causley Trust to showcase the work of illustrator Bex Bourne. She was commissioned by musician Jim Causley to create illustrations for his album of songs inspired by Charles Causley’s children’s poems. We are delighted to be exhibiting these illustrations along with a series of prints and postcards which will be for sale.

Interactive activities including book making, writing alongside the opportunity to chat with publishers and purchase their work.

Bookings:

Tickets £5.00 through CRBO or on the door.
