Artist and illustrator Catherine Hyde was in residence at The Story Republic today and was kept busy helping children create sea themed pictures, being entertained by our Story Republicans and talking about and creating her own work. Catherine creates mythical, earthy pictures with owls, moons, foxes featuring often. She has illustrated Carol Ann Duffy’s The Princess Blankets, Little Evie in the Wild Wood by Jackie Morris and has just had confirmed that she will be writing and illustrating her own book, hopefully ready for Christmas! www.catherinehyde.co.uk
During the next couple of weeks we have a range of writers in residence – performance poets Mac Dunlop and Callum Mitchell, writer Alice Maddicott and novelist Rebecca Gregson and of course, well known and loved playwright and poet Annamaria Murphy. This Saturday 2nd August Lucy and Fran from Feathered Tales will be running the show, bringing their own stories to the space, and are also delivering a special workshop for us on Tuesday 5th August.
