‘It’s a privilege to work with talented, creative, energized writers on the Minack Emerging Writers scheme. Within three exciting days at the magical Writers’ Block, each writer generated ideas that were engaging, funny and touching. I can’t wait to see what these writers do next!’

Jane Pugh, workshop leader and writer for stage and screen.

This half-term, The Writers’ Block joined forces with The Minack Theatre to run an intensive course for ’emerging playwrights’. We accepted applications from a number of greatly talented writers and a lucky seven were offered places on the course.

Over the three days, our writers learned from professional playwright Jane Pugh who writes for screen, stage and the page, as well as lecturing at Falmouth University. She, along with the atmospheric setting of The Writers’ Block, summoned inspiration and helped our emerging writers to craft their ideas into a play worthy of a stage.

To culminate the course, we welcomed some of the Minack Youth Theatre’s actors to come and perform the writers’ finished scenes. Watching words come to life was an experience to be had – and this Sunday November 17th you can experience it too!
