Michael Rosen wowed a wide-eyed audience of Cornwall’s teachers and creative practitioners on Friday 13th May as KEAP celebrated the opening of Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake and Bad Things.

Proceedings began with a fabulous lunch at The Trevenson Restaurant, where students studying various catering courses at Cornwall College prepared, cooked and served up a delicious meal, very much enjoyed by our guest Mr Rosen.

After a quick dash across campus, Michael delighted a wide-ranging audience with his overwhelming passion and understanding of language. His views about the current testing regimes in primary schools were informed and refreshing and he rounded off the session reading a number of his own poems.  There is no doubt that Michael is one of Britain’s most brilliant orators, he brought his poetry to life with so much energy and humour that the afternoon ended in fits of laughter and rapturous applause.

At 4pm, we cut our beautiful cake and opened Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake and Bad Things. Just before he left for his flight back to London, Michael rounded off a magical day with this poem, within seconds he had us all reciting it with him…
